Recently, I had the honor of photographing a truly beautiful event here in Abilene, Texas. The mommy & Me High Tea Party fundraiser brought together an incredible group of women and families in support of the Perinatal Care Foundation, an organization dedicated to caring for mothers and families in our community.

The afternoon was filled with thoughtful details, elegant table settings, delicate tea cups, and warm conversations shared among friends. While the event itself was lovely, what made the day truly meaningful was the purpose behind it. This annual Tea Party serves as an important fundraiser that helps support the work the Perinatal Care Foundation does throughout the year and helps them grow to support more women in our community.

Seeing so many people gather together in support of our local mothers and families was inspiring.

The Perinatal Care Foundation was created by a group of Abilene mothers who saw the need for greater support, education and resources for families navigating some of life’s most tender and difficult seasons, which are often quiet, misunderstood, or overlooked.

Their mission is centered around supporting mothers and families experiencing infertility, pregnancy loss, infant loss, and the many challenges that can arise during the postpartum period. Through compassion, connection, and community support, the foundation works to ensure families in Abilene do not have to walk these journeys alone.

Organizations like this are a powerful reminder of how important community truly is.

Why This Event Means So Much to Me

This foundation holds a very special place in my heart. Their mission and the care they offer to families resonate with me both personally and professionally.

As a photographer, I spend much of my time documenting mothers during one of the most tender and transformative seasons of life. Pregnancy, new motherhood, and the early years with our children are beautiful, but they can also be incredibly challenging. The work I do allows me to support mothers in preserving these moments, even in the midst of the exhaustion, growth, and change that come with them.

It also matters to me personally. In my own postpartum journey, I experienced trauma, loss, postpartum depression, and postpartum anger. The support of other mothers and the resources provided by this foundation helped me in ways I will always be grateful for.

Because of that, being able to contribute in a small way by documenting this event means more to me than simply photographing a beautiful gathering. It is an opportunity to support a mission that truly matters to the families in our community.
